- Noel Dullaghan

THE death occurred suddenly on 26 July, 2017, of Noel Dullaghan, who passed away peacefully at his home in Ashbrook, Dundalk.

Noel was originally from Fatima Park, and was born to parents Paddy and Annie Dullaghan.

He worked hard all his life in the building trade, doing a job he loved and he was extremely proud of his work. Due to health issues, he retired early.

Thereafter he had time to indulge his passion for gardening, and devote his time to his muchloved grandchildren.

He was a highly respected member of the community, who gave freely of his time and advice when needed. He was regarded as a gentleman, a kind, charitable person who always had a friendly greeting for those he met, young or old.

Above all, Noel was a devoted husband to Ann, a supportive dad and granddad, always providing counsel, guidance and reassurance for his family.

He loved to travel and experience different cultures and their history. Over the years this led Noel and Ann to such places as Mexico, America, Egypt, Thailand and even as far as China.

His death is very deeply regretted by his wife, Ann; children, Ryan, Gavin and Lynn; grand- children, son-in-law, Kieran Cunningham and Catherine Finn, along with his brothers, Mattie, Patsy and Paul; sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents, Paddy and Annie; sister, Patricia and brother, Edward.

After reposing at his home, Noel’s remains were removed to Saint Nicholas Church, where the funeral Mass was celebrated by Father Mark O’Hagan Adm. and family friend Father Barry Matthews.

Before Mass, gifts symbolising Noel’s life were brought to the altar by grandchildren, Tadgh, Aoibhe and Soracha. These included a flower from Noel’s garden, his mobile phone and an ornamental bird, representing his love of nature.

The Readings were read by family members, Catherine and Kieran. The Prayers of the Faithful were led by son, Gavin, grandson, Tadgh, nephew, Sean and neighbours, Daniel and Edel.

The Offertory gifts were presented at the altar by son, Ryan and sister-in-law, Rita. A reflection was given by daughter, Lynn. Many of his favourite hymns enhanced the ceremony. He was laid to rest afterwards in Saint Patrick’s cemetery.

Noel will be eternally loved and missed by his surviving family and friends.

Month’s Mind Mass will be held in Saint Nicholas Church on Sunday, 3 September, 2017, at noon.
