-

DUNDALK’S Setanta Choir are preparing to celebrate their 40th anniversary and are looking for new members to help them do so in style.

‘Next year 2018, is going to be a big occasion for us and we have lots of events planned as it marks our 40th anniversary,’ explains choir director Una Murphy.

Their headline event is a gala concert with the RTE Concert Orchestra in St Patrick’s Dundalk on Sunday February 25 2018.

‘We are delighted that we will have David Brophy joining us as conductor,’ says Una. David is one of the country’s best known conductors and is former Principal Conductor of the RTÉ Concert Orchestra.

Soloists for the concert include leading Irish soprano Celine Byrne and the renowned tenor Eugene Ginty, who lives in Dunany Togher. ‘He has worked with the choir before and we are very pleased that he will be joining us for this concert,’ said Una.

Setana are resuming rehearsals on Wednesday September 6 and Una says this is a great opportunity for singers to join the choir as it will give them the opportunity to be part of a very exciting season.‘We always welcome new members and rehearse for two hours each week.’
