Only difference between Dundalk and Drogheda is accents says Garrett

-

GARRETT Weldon has declared that he will be contesting the next General Election on behalf of the People Before Profit group with a sole aim - uniting the county!

‘I’m from Dundalk and I’ve worked in disadvantaged areas of Drogheda for seven years. The only thing different between the two towns is the accent,’ he declared.

Speaking at a People Before Profit campaign event in Drogheda, attended by People Before Profit TD Gino Kenny. he said he feels the need is there to help people in all sectors of their lives, includ- ing mental health.

‘I work in the youth sector and the services are simply not there,’ he claimed.

However, he revealed he’s a ‘reluctant politician’ and only went forward at the last election out of frustration and a passion to help the people around him.

‘ The way I look at it, my family is first, my job second and then comes politics.’

But time and time again he sees the mix is apparent, supporting the likes of Well Being clubs.

‘ There’s a club in Dundalk called Re- deemer and they have organised a Well Being club. People come in and exercise and talk about feeling good and there’s great volunteers there.

‘We don’t have all the solutions but we have the passion and we just invite people to come along and listen to what we have to say. I intend standing again after going so close the last time and we are about providing alternative policies.’

He is also seeking more and more people to join the party and make a major impact on the political landscape.
