Tara was one of three singers making their debut at the Met this season who were featured in an on-line performance and interview on the New York Time’s Facebook page.
The video was viewed over 250,000 times with viewers praising the performances by Tara and her fellow singers Angel Blue and Golda Schultz.
Tara spoke to NYT reporter Josh Barone about her role in the opera and how her voice allows her to sing both ‘ boy and girl’ roles. She also told how Americans had taken her to their hearts due to her Irishness, saying it was something that was commented on no matter where she went.
‘ Tara Erraught seems to have such range,’ wrote one viewwer. ‘Beautiful- I am entranced... she sounds awesome.’ said another. ‘She is wonderful. Brimming with joy.’
‘ Tara please be always so dramatic ! So many opera singers just sing - not play role.’
This will be the first of two roles which Tara will sing with the Metropolitan Opera in New York as she will also sing Hansel in Hansel and Gretal in December and January.
‘We’re very excited for her debut!,’ said a spokesperson for the Opera House.
She returns to Munich, Germany to rejoin the Bayerischer Staatsoper where she is principal soloist as she reprises her role of Carlotta in Die Schwiegsame Frau.
The coming season also sees her returning to the Vancouver Recital Society, and making debuts on Welsh National Opera’s International Concert Series and at South Carolina’s Peace Center, as well as singing in New York’s Carnegie Hall.
