The Blackrock Tourist and Development Group expect to have their local tourist brochure and map printed and distributed within the month.

This is one of the main initiatives that the group have set out to accomplish to promote the area, with the brochure containing lists of events in the area and things to do for visitors.

These will include two defined walking routes that the Group have devised, and a programme of mainly established activities that the village already hosts, including the like of the Tidy Towns Raft Race Day, Saint Patrick’s Day Parade and the traditional Fifteenth of August Bank holiday, along with more recent attractions like the Film Festival, Pumpkin Carnival and Christmas Market.

The latter two events are to take place shortly, with the Pumpkin Carnival fixed for October 31, and the Christmas Market is scheduled to take place on December 2nd.

It is an opportune time for the brochure‘s launch, providing a comprehensive rundown of the village’s attractions over the next year, and importantly filling a void for visitors to the village who are not acquainted with it and what it has to offer apart from the obvious charms of the sea and beautiful scenery.

The Group along with devising the two walking routes also have identified 12 points of interest for visitors to view and see.

The Group are to print 5000 copies of the brochure and village map, and these will be distributed in tourist offices and shops and tourist related businesses in a wide catchment area.

Louth County Council is providing financial assistance to produce the guide, with the bulk of the cost generated from advertisers who agree to take space in the guide.

The Group also is developing a marketing brand and logo for the village, a task that has been entrusted to Granson, a Dundalk based company that specialises in branding and identity design.
