Cuchulainn Gaels v Wolfe Tones Football, Paul Drumm, 4.00; St Brides v St Nicholas GFC, Ultan Mc Elroy, 4.00 AFTER finishing runner-up in their first Leinster ‘A’ blitz in June the Louth U-12 ladies went one better recently when they captured provincial honours in Portlaoise.

With a panel of 53 young ladies from 16 different clubs the girls have diligently attended training sessions throughout the summer and it has clearly paid off.

Two squads totalling 47 players hti the road for the O’Moore county at 7am to take part in the Leinster ‘B’ Blitz this time around where they were up against Meath, Wicklow, Kildare, Laois, Carlow, Offaly and Wexford.

The two teams performed superbly with the ‘B’ narrowly missing out on a place in the final on score difference.

The squad was quickly over to support the ‘A’ team who had secured a place in the final against Meath.

The girls were soaked and cold having played in the rain all day, but they managed to defeat the Royals and claim the title at the top of their grouping.

The county board issued a special word of thanks to all of the parents who travelled to matches throughout the summer and to the coaches Christopher Mackin, Lauren McGinn and Clodagh McClean.
