One point from nine leaves Quay struggling

-

IT has quickly turned pear-shaped for Quay. Two straight wins to begin the season and now they have picked up just one point in their last three matches, after a very poor and disappointing display on Thursday night in Drogheda.

It was all the more disappointing for Quay as Boyne had made a mixed start to the campaign, winning two and losing two of their first four games.

Quay having achieved what was a commendable draw against fancied title contenders New- foundwell the previous Sunday entertained realistic hopes that they could made it another rewarding raid to the Boyneside.

Those hopes rose when Aaron Comerford put Quay ahead after 20 minutes converting a penalty which he won himself after being brought down by the home goalkeeper.

However, only seconds from the interval whistle Quay conceded what proved a psychologically damaging equaliser, from which they never recovered.

Although Niall McLaughlin had a great effort to push them back in front on the hour but his left foot shot drew a great save from the home goalkeeper.

They could easily have opened up a three nil lead in the opening quarter, but then they totally lost their way as Boyne worked their way into the game.

To compound their misery they conceded a deflating deciding goal when they left a huge gap through the middle of their defence for a Boyne player in a breakaway to run from half way and score.

Quay is back home on Friday in Clancy Park when they host OMP in the FAI Junior Cup.
