Locals really need to plug in to electric cars

-

THE prospect of a traffic warden on the beat in Ardee remains a distinct possibility, despite the fact that the town has free parking.

The latest problem has arisen with the E- Car charging area at the Fair Green with motorists who have one of the vehicles unable to park up as the space adjoining the charge point is used as an ordinary space.

‘I have received a number of complaints and I’d ask people to be aware that this space is reserved for those with electric cars,’ Cllr Dolores Minogue stated.

She also said that parents and those wishing to use the playground at the Fair Green were finding it hard to get parked in the vicinity due to the fact that ‘all day parking’ is taking place in the area.

‘ There has been a long running issue here with cars parked up facing the entrance to St Joseph’s Hospital and the council are looking at bringing in a traffic warden at various times to make sure the two-hour only system is be adhered to.

‘ The traders have been tolerant about the parking as they are getting complaints from customers too.’

The best way to investigate this is probably to have a look and indeed, there is a major issue at the E- Car charging site.

I think the biggest problem is that people are unaware of the issue.

A heavy green box needs to be placed right at the box, indicating that it’s for electric cars only and maybe then attitudes might change.
