Redeemer in touch

-

REDEEMER are managing to hold their own in the second division which is the target they set and to keep their place in the second division in this their first season playing in the North East League.

After a decisive defeat the previous week to league leaders Bailieboro who have notched up six straight wins, they recorded their fourth win from seven outings with the other three ending in defeat. This has them comfortably in fifth place in the table -- admittedly with extra games played than teams around them

This match was switched to the Muirhevnamor all weather pitch on Sunday with the heavy rain during the week, and the home side came up against a big physically strong team who were well organised and posed quite an aerial threat.

However, Redeemer coped well with it and a goal in either half secured the points.

Conor Brennan Bracken broke the deadlock with a header in the opening period, but that lead was tested by Rossin as they had a strong spell after the break.

However, the visitors goalkeeper made a hash of Woicheck Gladyz’s shot with 20 minutes to go and it ended up in the Rossin net to secure the points. REDEEMER: Kyle Murphy, Stephen McGuinness, Conor Brennan, Paul Gartland, Niall Kelly, Martin Murphy, Kevin McCormack, Dean McConnell, Woichech Gladyz, James Clinton (Caolan Carroll), Jordan Gartland (Colm Bracken).
