‘Disconcerting’ no update on Ard Dealgan

-

A public representative has described as ‘disconcerting’ that officials will not be giving updates on the renovation of the Ard Dealgan apartments in Quay Street.

In a written report, the council said the project being undertaken by the Túath Housing Agency is at the CPO stage, and a feasibility study is underway.

This prompted Cllr. Anne Campbell to ask who is doing the feasibility study, when it will be completed, and what’s it for.

However, Aoife Lawler, senior executive officer, said, while the project ‘is at a very advanced stage’, it is a private body renovating the building.

‘It is commercially sensitive, and I am not going to give updates at council meetings.’

The official did reveal there will be less units in the block, as the number of two-bedroom apartments will be increased.

Cllr. Conor Keelan remarked it is disconcert- ing Ms. Lawlor could not give a fuller response about progress.
