Louth €775k for village and town renewal
VILLAGES and towns across Louth are set for a boost after a 775,726 grant was awarded for schemes throughout the county.
The grant was made available from the Department of Rural and Community development, and saw twelve projects from Louth being awarded funds.
These included €56,000 for the Ardee Hub/Health check, €79,304 for road safety works in Ballapousta, €55,100 for public realm works in Blackrock €79,337 for public realm works in Carlingford, along with €100,000 for footpaths at Dromiskin.
In Dunleer, the Market House development was granted €100,000, while €63,855 has been awarded to the Community playground picnic area in Knockbrisge, andf €32,137 was granted for works at the Reaghstown community complex. A further €29,872 was made available for a walking trail and footpath lighting in Stabannon, and €21,806 to upgrade the existing heritage trail in Tallanstown. The remaining €58,312 was awarded towards works for a safe pathway to King Williams Glen at Tullyallen.
Louth TD Fergus O’Dowd welcomed the funding, saying: ‘ The village and town Renewal Scheme is successfully supporting the revitalisation of towns and villages, making them better places to live and to work, and increasing their potential to support growing economic activity that we are seeing throughout County Louth.’
