Gersthroughto minorcounty finalagain

Geraldines scored a thrilling one point win over the holders Naomh Martin in Darver last Wednesday night to qualify for their seventh minor championship final in the last ten years.

They lifted the crown three times in their previous six final appearances, their last being in 2014 which the club lost.

In a pulsating semi-final replay the Gers came from two points down to score three late points to snatch victory on a scoreline of 1-10 to 2-6 to secure a meeting with Saint Marys Ardee on Sunday next October 15th in Drogheda.

The minor final will precede the senior showdown between Dundalk Gaels and Newtown Blues.

In the championship campaign to date Gers have played a fast brand of attacking football and they will face a tough assignment against Saint Mary’s who have been the competition favourites from the outset.

Manager Gerry Hoey and his backroom team will be pulling out all the stops over the next week or so in preparation for the final and needless to say, strong support from the parish on the day would be much appreciated.
