Andy nets a handy winner for Redeemer

DIVISION 2 PARKVILLA 1 REDEEMER 2

REDEEMER took another big step towards securing their position in the second division of the North East League with a second successive win.

Andy McDermott with a goal late in either half landed the precious points for the visitors who travelled with only the bare 11 players to Claremont Stadium in Navan on Sunday.

He netted his first in the 39th minute, and the visitors should have wrapped up victory in the early stages of the second-half when they struck the cross bar twice, and also the post.

Then those misses rebounded on them as the home side in a breakaway attack made it level pegging about the hour mark.

However, two minutes from time McDermott snatched the winning goal.

REDEEMER: Kyle Murphy, Stephen McGuinness, Paul Gartland, Caolan Carroll, Conor Brennan, Andy McDermott, Dean McConnell, Stephen McGuinness, Martin Murphy, Kevin McCormack, Sean Bailey.
