RAIN stayed at bay for most of Saturday’s competitio­n but windy conditions proved testing. Aideen McGahon posted a solid 36 pts to win closely followed by runner up Kay McCartan on 35 pts while third place went to Siobhan Bryne on 34 pts.

The GIG Ladies 8 Hole competitio­n winner was Maureen McCartan on 21 pts followed by runner up Maria Duffy on 16 pts.

Saturday next 14th October a CAT ABC stableford prize with alternate day play available on Thursday 12th October.

The White Elephants are being rounded up and will arrive in Greenore on Saturday 28th October. Please bring a wrapped gift to the value of €15. THE Club Turkey League got under way last week and week one was an 18 nett competitio­n.

The Grade 1 winner was Pádraic Sarsfield with a score of 45 Nett (h/c +1) and Grade 2 went to Brendan Walker with a score of 44 Nett (h/c -8).

Week two of the league will be an 18 gross - times of play tomorrow (Wednesday) and Saturday at 2pm and Sunday at 10am.

Congratula­tions to club member Pádraic Sarsfield who won the Final 18 prize at the RGSC Scratch Cup on Sunday with a score of 7 under par for his final round.

GERRY Matthews (32 pts) was the man in form last weekend with Martin Donaghy (30 pts) beating Vincent Duffy (30 pts) on the countback for runner-up.

The ladies’ competitio­n was sponsored by The Hairdresse­r in Carrickmac­ross. Both Helena Connolly and Bridie Fitzmauric­e had 24pts but it was Helena who won on the countback.
