SYMPATHY

The news of the death of local woman Alice Martin brought great sadness especially around the Ballykelly. Alice’s death took place in Castleross Nursing home on Wednesday 4th October.

Alice was a person with a warm personality and was popular with all who knew her. She was also a very good natured person and will be missed.

Her popularity was very much in evidence at all who attended her wake in her home and then at her funeral Mass which took place in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Louth on Friday morning.

Alice will certainly be missed by all who knew her but especially her family to whom we send our deepest sympathy. Alice is predeceased by her brother Jim and is survived by her sister Nancy, brothers Tom, Owen Joe, Gerry, Paddy, Anthony sisters In Law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

THANKSGIVING MASS

Last Sunday there was a celebration and thanksgiving Mass in Our Lady of the Snows Church, Stonetown to celebrate 180 years since it’s opening.

The day was organised by Stonetown School and they really made the day a great success. The chief celebrant was Fr. Paddy Rushe and the pupils of the School done the readings and recited a poem and beautiful singing as well as serving at the Mass and they were a credit to their teachers.

After the Mass the large crowd went back to the local school for refreshments and everyone was full of praise the way the school organised the day.

The teachers Principal Theresa Fitzsimmons and Sharon Martin, pupils and parents are to be congratulated on making the day the success it was in the history of the parish. At the end of the Mass the principal thanked all who helped out in any way.

CONGRATULATIONS

We send congratulations to the committee and workers of Louth Tidy Towns on once again improving on their marks from the recent judging.

In most areas they improved their markings and it is a credit to all who work so hard to keep up the appearance of the village and we would urge everyone to cooperate with the committee to help the to even improve it’s image.
