Ravensdale on top in League opener at DkIT

-

RAVENSDALE travelled to DkIT to take on Doolargy-Haynestown in the opening fixture of this year’s North Louth winter league.

It was the home side that started the strongest putting the Ravensdale defence under continuous threat in the opening 10 minutes. This early pressure paid off as Doolargy-Haynestown took the lead when Connor Murray headed home a suberb cross from the right hand side. Ravensdale came into the game afterwards and got their equaliser 10 minutes$3 later when great work from Matthew Myles won the ball back on the halfway line. He then squared the ball to Darren Hynes, who slotted the ball past the keeper. Ravensdale took the lead five minutes$3 before halftime. Christopher McCaughley took a free from inside his own half and found Micheál Crilly, who headed past the advancing keeper.

The second half was much like the first a wide open contest with both sides having chances. However, it was Ravensdale, who held on to secure the win in what was a hard-fought contest.
