Former Inspiral Carpets singer returns to Dundalk

TOM Hingley, the 90’s legend and former frontman with the Inspiral Carpets makes a return visit to Dundalk when brings his acoustic show to the Oriel Centre, Dundalk Gaol on Saturday night.

He was lead singer with Madchester band, Inspiral Carpets until 2011. His signature vocal sound can be heard on all the ‘glory days’ hits including ‘ This is How it Feels’, and ‘Saturn 5’, he helped catapult the band from Oldham to stardom in the early nineties.

Now, 25 years and 15 top 40 singles later, Tom continues to enjoy a successful solo career that started with his debut acoustic album, ‘Keep Britain Untidy’, which he was released on his own label, Newmemorab­ilia, in 2000.

Since then, Tom has released two more soul-searching acoustic albums, ‘ Thames Valley Delta Blues’ and the Pledge Music crowd-funded ‘Sand’.

He also plays with the Tom Hinley Band and is touring the UK with The Kar-Pets, playing tracks from ‘Revenge of the Goldfish’ album as well as hits from the Inspiral Carpets back catalogue.

Solo, he plaus an eclectic mix of folk, soul, gospel and blues with plenty of heart, as well as acoustic renditions of Inspiral classics.
