Surprise celebration for Eamonn

-

ON Friday night I headed for the Lisdoo where a special surprise 50th birthday party was being held for Eamonn Cotter from Church View, Dromiskin and there to make sure he had a great night was his wife Bernadette, kids Natasha and David, parents Michael and Ann Cotter from Haggardstown and huge collection of family and friends.

Eamonn who works in security was tricked into going for a meal and had no idea that there was a huge crowd waiting for him when he got there.

I decided to have a look round to see who else was helping celebrate his big night and first got talking to niece Chloeanne Cotter and uncle Matthew Cotter both Seafield Lawns who wanted to wish Eamonn all the best and were definitely going to make the best of it.

Also at their table were cousin John Cotter from Carrickarnon, aunty May O’Donnell, uncle Louis and May Cotter all from Drogheda who were delighted to be there to see the look on his face when he arrived up.

Next I managed a quick word with the birthday boy’s favourite cousin Evelyn Begley from Mourne Vale with husband Peter who were having a laugh with Eamonn’s son David Cotter from Dromiskin with girlfriend Caitlin Donohoe from Silverbridge and they wanted to wish him a very happy 50th and were there to make sure he had a fantastic night.

Seated across the table I then met up with the real favourite cousin Sharon Quigley from Inniskeen with her mum Josephine Quigley from Inniskeen whom I was reliably informed is his favourite sister-in-law and holiday buddy and they told me they were going to have a ball.

Also in their company was Natasha’s bestie Kellie McCor- mick from Inniskeen who was sitting close to Princess Aiveen Quigley from Inniskeen sitting with Linda Daly from Newry and Niamh Daly from Dowdallshill whose husbands Gavin and Mark are both cousins of the birthday boy and were up at the at the bar having a laugh. Making my way across the floor to another table I then got a word with sister-inlaw Teresa and James Laverty Haggardstown who wanted to wish Eamonn all the best on his big surprise night. They were sitting with Bernadette’s sisters Christine Neary from Haggardstown and Eileen Kelly from Mullabawn who were with husbands Liam and Peter and they were having a right old time of it together.

I then made my way over to the corner seats where I got talking to Eamonn’s workmates Fiona Tuohy, ex-Mayo now from Drogheda and Debbie McEntegart from Duleek who were having a laugh with niece Jennifer Byrne from Stamullen who told me the crack would only get going after they had finished the meal.

Making my way over to another table where I met up with Eamonn’s brother Michael Cotter and husband Derek Lowe over from Hastings to spend a week celebrating. They were chatting to niece Cathy Woods from Dromiskin and Eamonn’s parents Michael and Ann Cotter from Haggardstown who told me he hadn’t a clue about the surprise party and they were delighted with the way it had turned out.

They were sitting beside best buddies and life-long friends Eamonn’s dad Michael, Brian McCarthy and Pat Bishop both from Haggardstown and Brian Kieran from Heynestown Stud who assured me it was going to be a cracking night.

Finally, before I departed I caught up with Ciara Neary from Haggardstown with husband and nephew Paul who were chatting to Gavin Daly from Newry and Mark Daly from Racecourse Road as well as sister-in-law Marie Daly from Blackrock and Michelle Murchan from Silverbridge who told me that the celebrations would be anything but sedate.
