SPECIAL COCKTAIL BAR BUILT IN SMOKING AREA

-

THERE really was only one place to be on Friday night and that had to be the Rum House who were launching their Hawaiian Tiki Weekend where the emphasis is on top class cocktails and they had even built a cocktail bar in smoking area of the pub.

I was only in the door when I met up with Paul Tinnelly and Majella Toner, Clontigora Court who were out for a drink after a very busy weekend, had chosen the Rum House and were going to try a few cocktails later on.

Making my way through the huge crowd I then caught up with Debbie Woods from Belfry Gardens and Dean Branigan from Clogherhead who were up near the band and couldn’t wait for them to get going.

It was definitely a family celebration at the next booth because Kevin Mulgrew from Finnabar Crescent was there for his 62nd birthday along with wife Rosie, Jamie McDonald from O’Hanlon Park with Therese Mulgrew from Finnabar Crescent, brother Dominic with Rachel Hughes from Bothar Na Feirme who told me they had a lovely meal and were getting ready for some Tiki cocktails.

Not too far away I had the pleasure of meeting up with Conor McKenna from Vincent Avenue and Anna Burlingham from Mount Avenue, when asked about their favourite cocktails Conor says ‘you can’t go wrong with a Mojito’ and I had to agree with them.

Meanwhile over at another table I then got a quick word with Beverly McElroy from Walterstown, Laura Gavin from Redbarns Road and Martin Tuohy from Riverstown who were checking out the menu and just couldn’t decide which one they wanted, they all looked so delicious.

Two busy boys on the night were Bryan Oliver from Killanny who was keeping an eye on Paul Coburn from Willowdale who told me the cocktails were lovely and he’d probably be having one or two after he’d finished work.

Next I had the pleasure of talking to Rachel Tinnelly from Mill Road with Brian and Samantha Carville from Ravensdale who were only in but looking forward to a visit to the Tiki bar outside later on.

After this I met up with Fiona Haley originally Clara Drumm and Sinead Rice at the ‘Tiki Weekend’ in The Rum House.

from Stabannon, home from Australia for three weeks and out celebrating with her brother.

Paudie Donnelly also from Stabannon for his 40th birthday they were keeping the party going in the company of Ciaran Shevlin, Daniel Donnelly, Barry Sweeney and Wayne Lynch all from Stabannon, Lisa Sweeney from Doylesfort Road and Pamela Woods from Greenwood Drive who were out for a mad one for sure.

I then headed for a table where I met up with Orla Hannigan from Newry and Siobhan Thornton from Cooley who told me their meal was beautiful and were staying on to see if there were any free cocktails on the go.

Finally, before I departed I met up with Caoilionn Moran from Castle Park, David Maguire and John Moneley both from Blackrock, Annie Martin from Williamsons Place, Karen Coburn who were joined by Conor McKenna and Anna Burlingham, Karen said that the cocktails were ‘apparently very nice’, the place was great and they’d definitely heading out to the Tiki Bar at some time during the night.
