Five-star Glens set the terms in impressive rout

-

GLENMUIR UTD TERMONFECKIN 5 0

GLENMUIR carried too much attacking armoury for the visitors to Glenmuir Park in this under-16 game between two teams in the bottom half of the table.

Samuel Adekola inflicted the wounds that yielded Glenmuir’s opening two goals for Liam McStravick and Victor Ihemeje in the first 11 minutes. He along with McStravick, Benas Luko who also netted for Glenmuir, and Victor Ihemeje who nabbed a brace, were too hot for Termonfeckin to handle and Adekola applied the coup de grace with the winners’ final goal.

The result meant that Termonfeckin remain rooted to the foot of the table without a point after four games, and Glenmuir now have six points from the same number of matches.

The win put Glenmuir on the same points total as the two teams sharing third spot before the kickoff.

They made all the attacking running for virtually all the firsthalf, broken by a brief spell by the visitors which resulted in Dylan Boylan stinging the hands of the outstretched Eddie Maguire who pushed his shot from outside the 18 yard box away for a corner.

Glenmuir quickly regained the attacking initiative for McStravick to take off on a scything run down the left and in along the endline and shot into the side netting.

He then shot straight at the Termonfeckin ‘keeper when set up by Adekola, but it was a temporary reprieve for the visitors. As from the resulting corner kick which McStravick took, Benas Luko headed in Glenmuir’s third just short of the half hour mark.

It was much the same after the break with Glenmuir doing the pressing, and the visitors had a lucky escape when Ihemeje’s effort struck their crossbar.

But he wasn’t denied much longer as a fast flowing move involving Luko and McStravick ripped open the visitors defence down the left. Ihemeje stepped away from his marker just outside the six yard box to make room for his angled low shot that went in off the butt of the far post.

Fittingly Adekola gained a tangible reward for his endeavours when he scored to complete his team’s tally.
