PumpkinFestival

-

The second annual Blackrock Pumpkin Festival is set to go ahead. The date is fixed for Monday, October 30, and it is an event for family, especially the children.

The organisers Blackrock and Tourism Development Group plan to build on the success of the inaugural festival last year.

The Festival, sponsored by Fyffes, will be staged in the middle of the village, with participants invited to congregate at the sun dial, and bring along their pumpkins to create one of the largest pumpkin displays in the country.

The intention is to light up the pumpkins and line them along the promenade wall, with the opportuni- ty to take souvenir photographs with a suitable backdrop provided.

Participants are asked to gather at the sun dial at 6.30pm, and avail of festive fare including food and music. Face painting will also be provided.

Then at 7.30pm a fancy dress walk, titled the “Black Walk” will proceed along the promenade from the main car park to the slipway on the other end of the street and onto the beach. Scary surprises will await there. The time table for the festival is: 6:30pm – Pumpkin Display – Bring Your Own Pumpkin to the Sundial; 6:30pm to 7:30pm – Pumpkin Carnival – Traditional Halloween Fayre / Music / Facepainting; 7:30pm – The Black Walk – Fancy Dress (Kids and Adult) walk to the beach.
