Line up for fes­ti­val has some­thing to suit all tastes

The packed sched­ule for the up­com­ing Baroque Fes­ti­val prom­ises some­thing to suit all ages and tastes.

From in­di­vid­ual mu­si­cal per­for­mances to cham­ber groups and orches­tra en­sem­bles not to men­tion some po­etry and prose as well as a host of stun­ning lo­ca­tions, in­clud­ing Ardee’s Hatch’s Cas­tle on Mar­ket Street, the event prom­ises to be a ma­jor cul­tural high­light for the area this year.

On Fri­day, Novem­ber 24th the fes­ti­val will kick off with a Lit Lab Po­etry Night in Hatch’s Cas­tle.

This free event will start at 7.30pm.Lit Lab is a group of pub­lished and prize-win­ning writ­ers from Meath and Ca­van whose fo­cus is writ­ing po­etry and prose.

Mu­sic Gen­er­a­tion Louth Cham­ber Groups and Ju­nior Strings will per­form in St Mary’s Abbey on Sat­ur­day, Novem­ber 25th at 12.30pm. Tick­ets for this event cost €5. Vi­o­lin­ist Mairéad Hickey will per­form in Hatch’s Cas­tle on the 25th at 4pm. Tick­ets cost €10 for adults and €5 for chil­dren.

Ir­ish Baroque Orches­tra fea­tur­ing Sinead Camp­bell-Wal­lace, so­prano will head­line on Sat­ur­day night in St Mary’s Abbey at 7.30pm.

On Sun­day, you can join Sylvia Craw­ford from County Ar­magh at 1pm in Hatch’s Cas­tle for a talk on the life and reper­tory of Pa­trick Quin, an 18th cen­tury harper from County Ar­magh

Michael McHale on pi­ano and Brian O’Kane on cello will close the fes­ti­val at 3pm on Sun­day af­ter­noon in St Mary’s Abbey. Tick­ets cost €15, €12 conc and €5 chil­dren.
