Call for Women’s Aid fundraisers on ‘Women’s Chistmas’

-

A local campaign has been launched for Women’s Christmas (6th January) 2018 to be dedicated to fundraising events for Dundalk Women’s aid.

Local woman Sinead Crilly has launched the campaign urging people to consider organising fundraisers on January 6th.

‘Violence against women is very much in the media at present and I would like to use this as a platform to help raise money for a new premises for women’s Aid in Dundalk.’

She added: ‘ The plan is to get businesses and groups to organise events in Dundalk on the day. We have had great feedback so far and many businesses have signed up to make this a very successful day. I am looking for more people to come on board to help us with this worthy cause.

We are organising lots of fun events for women this Women’s Christmas and all to raise much-needed money for Women’s Aid! Women supporting women by having a good time!’

‘We are looking for businesses and community groups to organise their own events. How about a pyjama party, a ladies night, a walk, a run, a comedy night, bingo, a play, afternoon tea, meditation, yoga, art exhibition, organising a gathering in your home with a few friends?

‘We would like important figures in our community to get involved in this and show their support and raise awareness for the 1 in 5 women in Ireland who suffer from domestic abuse in the home. Please help protect and support women and children. Go on to our Facebook page Women’s Christmas or contact me on 087 7767807 to let us know how you would like to get involved.
