Slick Rock hit gallant Quay for six

-

QUAY OLYMPIC ROCK CELTIC 0 6

OLYMPIC’S hopes of halting the Seasidsers gallop quickly crumpled at Clancy Park. In less than 15 minutes Rock raced into a three goal lead, and were well on their way to their sixth straight win in the under-15 premier division ahead of the big clash with the leaders Bellurgan at the weekend.

They added a fourth just before the half time whistle and they completed the formality of victory with a couple more early goals after the break.

Rock stamped their superiority from the kick –off Daniel Nordon to head them in front from a corner kick.

There was a marked difference in the cohesion of Rock’s play and their opponents and the quality of their goals was out of the top bracket.

Their next three goals definitely had quality written all over them. A piercing run by the impressive Niall Lennon brought him free of the home defence down the left and he delivered a measured low cross into the penalty box which Mark Gallagher collected near the far post and drilled it low across the goalkeeper inside the far post from ten yards.

Gallagher reversed roles for his team’s third goal, crossing from the right flank for Louis McKeown with his back to goal to swivel away from his marker in a central position and curled a gorgeous left footed shot from the edge of the 18 yard line into the top corner of the net.

Gallagher’s second goal seconds before half-time was another peach. He curled a free kick from 30 yards past the defensive wall and into the corner of the net.

Niall Lennon hit another cracker with the second-half just on and Louis McKeown quickly followed with his second and the winners sixth goal.

From there the final whistle couldn’t come soon enough for the home side.
