Maura Fee

1968 - 2017w

THE death took place of Maura Fee, Ballybarrack, Knockbridge, and formerly of Fatima Park and Glenwood Estate, Dundalk.

Maura passed away peacefully in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital on 25 October, 2017, after a brief illness.

Maura was a daughter of the late Eoin and Carmel Meegan. She attended Scoil Eoin Baiste in Fatima and then St. Louis Secondary School on the Castletown Road, Dundalk, before embarking on a working career that brought her into contact with numerous employers and people.

Maura was a very caring, genuine and hardworking lady who embraced all life could throw at her with ease, and could be described in one word as a doer.

She had a keen eye for a bit of fashion and loved to cook, meet people, and was certainly known to be more than agile when it came to any form of partying or dancing.

She had a great zeal for life, whether it be work or play, and her family often quipped that work was her hobby, such was her work ethic.

Maura is survived by her husband Martin, whom she married in 2002; her daughter, Kellie; and her stepson, Cathal.

She is also survived by her siblings, Frances Darcy, Dundalk; Carol Sheelan, Cooley; Kevin Meegan, New York and Therese O’Keeffe, Ratoath; father- and mother-in-law, Charlie and May Fee; cousin, Adele Corcoran; nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and wide family circle and friends.

After reposing at her home in Ballybarrack, Knockbridge, her remains were removed to St. Fursey’s Church, Haggardstown, where the funeral mass was celebrated by Fr. Paddy Rushe.

The readings were read by her brotherin-law, Adrian and her brother, Kevin.

A reflection was delivered by her cousin, Adele, while the prayers of the faithful were led by Kellie, Katelyn, Regina, Lucy-May, Alex, Katelyn and Meghan.

Gifts symbolising Maura’s life were brought to the altar by her nieces, Sonya, Meghan and Rylee; and these included a picture of Maura on the dance floor, a crochet blanket and red roses.

May and Claire participated in the offertory procession. A poignant and apt eulogy was delivered by Maura’s brother-in-law, David D’Arcy.

Music was provided by Brendan McCourt and vocals by Ruth Kelly.

Burial took place in the adjoining cemetery after the funeral mass.

The Month’s Mind Mass takes place in St. Fursey’s Church, Haggardstown at 11.00am on Sunday, 26 November, 2017.
