THE Spirit Store is the venue for the third event in the inaugural The Corridor series of talks by writers and walkers on the theme of Borders tomorrow Wednesday night at 7pm.

The evening will see the noted Irish novelist and short storey writer Evelyn Conlon, join Garrett Carr, who has walked the whole Irish border for ‘ The Rule of the Land: Walking Ireland’s Border’ and Paul Scraton ,long-time explorer of the former Berlin Wall, for a discussion on the importance of borders with Dundalk resident Marcel Krueger. Marcel, who with Anne Mager, has instigated this series of events looking at the corridor between Dublin and Belfast.

A native of Germany, Marcel is a writer, translator and editor, and mainly writes non-fiction about places, their history, and the journeys in between.

He currently lives and works in Dundalk and is also the book editor of Elsewhere Journal and the contributi­ng editor of Sonic Iceland.

His articles and essays have been published in the Daily Telegraph, the Guardian, Slow Travel Berlin, CNN Travel and Spotted by Locals, amongst others.

His is latest book, ‘Babushka’s Journey: The Dark Road to Stalin’s Wartime Camps’ will be published by in December 2017.

He is also a member of the Louth Archaelogi­cal Associatio­n. 2

Rock legends Trucker Diablo are set to blast the roof off Sanctuary Sounds upstairs in Eoin’s Bar, with support by local bands , Arco Arena and Robot on Saturday night. Joanne McNally, who has co-hosted of Republic of Telly, will be joined by Bernard Casey, Maisie Gaughran and Mark McConnell, for the Juice Box Comedy Club in The Spirit Store on Saturday night.
