Church View celebrate 40 years

-

ON Friday night I headed for the St. Josephs clubrooms for the party to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the building of the Tidy Towns award winning Church View estate in Dromiskin and a huge crowd had turned out specially for the occasion.

I wasn’t too long in the door when I met up with teacher Pat Hamilton from Blackrock who told me he had started in St. Peters NS in ’ 76 around the same time the estate was build and was delighted to be there on the night to meet up and have a laugh with everyone.

After this I headed over for a word with Loretta Yore from Green Road, Dolores Hanneffy and Helen Healy both from St. Ronans Villas who had all lived in Church View in the past and were back to see all their old friends and have a great night.

Beside them I then got talking Noel and Joan Kennedy, Angela Carolan, Margaret Mulligan and Rose Catherson from Church View who were with Eileen McGuinness from Chapel Road who were in great form and were really happy to see all the old familiar faces back again.

Not too long later I then got talking to Ollie and Liz Corrigan from Church View who assured me it would be a fantastic night, but not too great because of work in the morning.

Next, I met up with the two main organisers of the night Pat Carolan and Patrick Toner who said they decided that it was definitely worth celebrating a landmark time in the estate’s life, there is a great friendship and they are proud to be part of that 40 year friendship.

After this I got a word with Patrick and Fidelma Clarke from Ardee who said he had lived there for a few years and it is a really great estate.

Making my way over to another table where I caught up with Majella Murphy from Church View, Shane Bannon from Killeavy, Margaret Bannon from Castlebellingham and Ann Mathews from Green Road who told me it was going to be a fantastic night and it was great to see all the old faces again.

Not too long later I met up with Sean Murphy and Michael Carina Carroll, Karen Dolan, Audrey Reilly and Anne Mulligan.

Mathews from Green Road who told me it was going to be a bit of craic on the night.

Making my way through the crowds I then caught up with Pat Kennedy and Jean Mary Ward who told me they have been in the estate since the very start and were delighted to be there on the night.

Not to far away I then got a word with Jason Mulligan from Church View, his sister Denise Mulligan, Gerard McArdle, Kevin Cassidy and Ollie

Downey all from Church View who were there to enjoy all the celebrations.

After this I met up with Anne and David McGuinness from Dromena Road who told me they were definitely going to join in the celebrations.

Just arrived in were three young ladies from Church View who were looking very well and they were Megan Berrill, Holly Canavan and Sylvia Caffrey who were having a class night.

Next I got a word with the ban the John Thomas Big Band and they were Tom Tuite (a big O’Connells man), Barry Pritchard, Anne King and Anthony Lennon who were looking forward to entertaining the crowds on the night.

Finally, before I departed I got a word with Majella Weldon, Ann O’Neill, Mary McGuinness, Ambrose and Mary Doyle all from Church View who told me it’s great to get all the people together and were sure it was going to be a fantastic night.
