Phyllis taken totally by surprise for 70th party

FRIENDS AND FAMILY GATHER IN TOM CLARKE’S BAR

-

PHYLLIS Gorham from Hyde Park hadn’t a clue when she walked into Tom Clarke’s bar on the Quay on Friday night that her family had organised a surprise 70th birthday party for. There to make sure she had a great night was husband Paddy, kids Lindsey, Stephen, Natasha and Michael and a huge collection of family and friends.

I wasn’t too long in the door when I caught up with Phyllis’ sister Paula Brennan from Bay Estate who was with her daughter the well known dog groomer Orla Brennan from Bow Wow Groomers in Louth Village who said she hadn’t a clue and just walked in and found everyone there ready to party the night away with her.

Meanwhile up near the bar I then got talking to Phyllis’ brother and nephew Arthur and Niall Gorham from Muirhevnamor who were having a laugh with brother-in-law Terry Galvin from Limerick who is married to her sister Maeve and they told me it was going to be a mad party altogether.

Next I met another brother Jim Gorham from Cooley who was sitting having a chat with Martina McNally from Bay estate and Josie McKenna from Hyde Park who wanted to wish al the best to her old neighbour.

I then headed for Phyllis’ family where I caught up with daughter Natasha and Ian O’Hare who were with brother Michael, Jacqui and Philippus Fearon, Stephen Fearon, Lindsey Murphy, Michael Crummie and Kristian Chada all from Meigh who was with Rachel Lively from Mayobridge who told me they were there to make sure that Phyllis had the best night ever.

After this I got a word with sister Maeve Gorham from Ashbrook who told me that Phyllis hadn’t a clue about the night because they were just home from a holiday where they too her to Portugal for her 70th birthday.

Next I got a quick word with Phyllis’ brother John Gorham from Bay Estate who was with his wife Lorraine and daughter Hanna who assured me it was going to be a more than lively party for certain.

Heading for another table I then met two of Phyllis’ sisters Moira McCabe from Cedarwood Park and Paula Brennan from Bay Estate who were having a right old time of it with Aisling McCabe from Cedarwood Park, Colette Murphy from Bay Estate and the birthday girl’s bestie from when they were kids Ann McBride from St. Josephs Park and said this was going to be a major night of fun.

Next I headed for a table where I got talking to Yvonne Mulligan from Patrick Tierney Crescent, Liam Quinn from Happy Valley, Margaret McGee from Seafield Lawns, Maureen Tuite from Upper Mountain View, Breda Farnon from Cooley, Audrey Kelly from Tallanstown and Jenifer Donegan from Clancullen Park who wanted to wish their old Stribel mate all the best on her 70th.

Finally, before I departed I met up with Christine Campbell and Mark Brennan from Derry who were having a laugh with Mark’s sister Orla Brennan from Louth Village who wanted to wish aunty Phyllis all the best on her big night.
