Christmas Celebration ready to roll

-

The parish Christmas celebration is ready to roll again with the date fixed and preparations in hand.

Sunday has become the preferred day for all concerned, organisers and for families and children who attend the event that will take place at the customary venue in the car park, next to the Village Centre.

December 3 is the date settled on with a 4.30pm starting time.

Like in past years it will incorporate the switching on of the village’s Christmas lights along the main promenade, as well as the community Christmas tree that is erected in the car park and remains lit over the festive season.

Santa will pay a visit, and hopefully will have some treats for the children.

A festive atmosphere will be created with Christmas music and carols sung by members of the local choir. Festive food will also be served for adults and children alike, which will include mulled wine and mince pies, along with hot chocolate and cocktail sausages.

An art competition is arranged in conjunction with the event for pupils in the three local primary schools, Saint Oliver Plunkett’s, Saint Fursey’s and Saint Francis’s.

The entries will be displayed as usual on the front of the stage.

The finale will comprise a giant fireworks display that will take place on the nearby beach.
