BAKE OFF SEES €5,500 RAISED

-

The first ever Great Dundalk Bake Off saw an amazing €5,500 raised for charities and organisations working to help the homeless in Dundalk.

The debut event, which was inspired by the popular baking TV series saw ten local personalities team up with five local businesses to create eye catching cakes which were then voted on the public.

The ‘star bakers’ and their mentors were Paddy Mac (Dundalk FM) and Cll. Anne Campbell with Conlon’s Food Hall, Seamus and Christy from LMFM with the Home Bakery, Cllr. John McGahon and Mandy Fee with 23 Seats, Brendan and Lisa Marmion with McAteers Food House and Elaine McGeough and Michael McLoughlin, with Eskays Bistro.

The event was part of the launch of the busy ‘Frostival’ themed event in Dundalk, and attracted huge crowds. But, it was also a fundraiser for vital funds needed for Dundalk Simon Community and the St. Patrick’s Parish Soup Kitchen/ Food Parcels initiative.

After an afternoon of voting, the winners announced were Paddy Mac and Cllr. Anne Campbell, along with the talented team from Conlon’s Food Hall.

Speaking after the win, Paddy Mac said ‘I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their kinds donations and support during the Great Dundalk Bake Off, to Deborah Conlon, Chris Conlon, and Ava Kenny of Conlond’s Food Hall for their creative skills and fun with them, to my baking and fundraising partner Cllr. Anne Campbell for the fun and laughs during this great event, and to Martin, Fiona and all the staff at BIDS for their help.’

Eskay’s Bistro were also congratulated for winning a special adjudicators award for their beautiful cake creation.

Tributes were paid to all participants who took part in the fundraising event for the Dundalk Simon Community and St. Patrick’s Soup Kitchen.
