Omniplex packed for latest Star Wars film

-

THERE really was only one place to be on Friday night and that had to be the Omniplex Cinema in the Retail Park for the much anticipated release of the latest Star Wars film Last Jedi which is the middle feature in the most recent Star Wars triology.

I wasn’t too long in the foyer before I caught up with Liam and Aileen McGuinness from Knockbridge who told me they weren’t there to see the latest Star Wars offering, but were going to Daddy’s Home 2 instead!

After this I caught up with Padraig Carragher from Mullabawn who was with his three daughters Rhiannon, Blaithin and Grace who are all big fans and were really looking forward to the movie.

One lady who was extremely busy on the night was Assistant Manager Kathy Monahan from Blackrock who told me the movie will be shown 13 times on various screens and she expects it to run for at least the next two months.

Not too long later I then had the pleasure of meeting up with Jen and Sinead Smith from Bay Estate ‘who told me they were really looking forward to seeing it and finding out what all the fuss is about.

Later on, I then got a word with Michelle Savage from Dunleer who was there with her husband Joseph and her son Jason whom she said thought it was excellent and really loved the movie.

After this I caught up with my old mate Owen O’Reilly from Cooley with his kids Finn and Aine as well as their friend Conor Hoey from Broughton Street. Owen said the kids had really enjoyed the fight sequences, the story was good and there was plenty to laugh at too.

Making my way through the crowds I then caught up with Dan McAlester from Bay Estate and Laura O’Shaughnessy who had really enjoyed the movie and said it was just brilliant.

Not too long later I got a word with Eva Kennedy from Lower Faughart who was with kids Robyn and Dalton. She said the kids had absolutely loved it and so did she, it brought her back to the days when she worked in a cinema too.

‘‘It was brilliant, much better than the last one’, beamed Conor Byrne from Ardee who was with his brother Timmy Byrne and Conor Dunlea also from Ardee who were both suitably impressed too. They were joined by Conor and Timmy’s parents David and Theresa Byrne who had certainly enjoyed the movie too.

After this I got a word with Kevin Holland from Cuchullain Terrace who had brought Lucy and Scott and they were with Alan Hoey from Riverside Drive who had brought Megan and Rebecca. Kevin said it was a bit long and not as good as The Force Awakens but that didn’t really matter because the kids loved it.

Finally, before I departed I met up with Aidan Cromie from Killeavy who was with daughter Jessica and sons Thomas and Ronan who thought it was very good and very funny. Aidan told me the reason they were all there was because Thomas had bought a ticked for Jessica and then they all decided to go and had loved it.
