Retired Macardle Moore workers enjoy season

-

ON Friday night I headed for the Lisdoo where the Macardle Moore Retired Personnel Social Club were hosting their Christmas Party and a good crowd had turned out specially for the occasion.

I wasn’t too long in the door when I met up with Dolores and Benny Kelledy from Priorland Grove who were having a chat with Tommy Talt from Fatima and Nicholas McCourt from Medebawn who told me the social club always put on a great night and this was definitely going to be one.

Next I managed a few words with Eilish and Michael Martin from Donaghmoyne who were representing Michael’s dad the late Jimmy Martin and told me it’s always a good night.

Heading for another table I met up with Frank and Cathy Byrne from Meadow Grove who were with Bertie and Laura Rogers from Greyacre Road who agreed that it is a great social club with weekends away organised and they were going to make the best of the Christmas party night.

Not too far away I then got talking to Patrick McSorley from Oaklawns, Alan Duffy from Armagh Road and Vincy Reilly from Avenue Road who were there with their wives Eileen, Breda and Margaret who were all up for making it a real night to remember.

Next I got a word with Derby County supporter Tom Toner from Mountpleasant who was with wife Bernie who were enjoying the company of Ken and Helen Woods from Manydown Close who were in great form ad assured me they were definitely going to make the best of the Christ- mas party with the ‘ best worker’ Patsy Carr and wife Aoife from Holly Park. Pat told me he was getting ready to get his best suit pressed for the big event on the social calendar which will be taking place in April of next year!

After this I met up with Larry and Jacqueline Brennan from Fatima who said the brewery may be closed 16 years but the social club is still going strong.

Making my way over to another table I then got a word with Mary Neary from O’Hanlon Park who was accompanying her husband Dot and they were with Charlotte and Jimmy Neary from Greenwood Drive who couldn’t wait for the night to really get going. Marian and Noel McMahon from Jocelyn Mews who were with the Neary’s said that it was quite at the minute but they expected all that to change later on.

I then headed over for a word with Marian McGeeney from Shore Road who was with Sonny along with Anne Duffy from Ashbrook who assured me they were gonna have a ball.

One who was very busy on the night was Treasurer Martin Byrne from Dromiskin who was with his wife Mary and he assured me it was going to be an excellent night.

I then caught a quick word with sisters Mary Dawe from O’Hanlon Park and Kitty Moran from Hyde Park who were in good form and ready to make it a great night with everyone there.

Finally, I met up with Michael Farrell from Belfry Crescent and Claire Kerrigan from New Muirhevna who were delighted to be amongst old friends again.
