Rubbish dumped on Castleblayney Road

-

MEMBERS of the local community along the length of the Castleblayney Road have raised the frustration at piles of dumped rubbish along the road.

Bags and bags of rubbish have been dumped at the side of the road, just past the interchange with the motorway on the Castleblaney side.

The rubbish has been dumped for a number of weeks and is now scattered along the length of the hard shoulder.

Speaking about the current levels of rubbish evident along the busy main road from Dundalk to Castleblayney, Louth County Councillor Tomas Sharkey said:

‘A small number of people are taking advantage of this a wide open road easily accessible from the MI.’

He said that despite the growing levels of waste evident, he did not believe it was an ‘organised’ dumping of waste in the area.

There are a lot of people using this very busy road, and in some cases there is rubbish being thrown out of passing cars.

‘ This rubbish is accumulating, which is causing concern.’

He called on local people to be ‘vigilant’ about any dumping in their area, ad to report any incidents that they witness to Louth County Council.

Cllr. Sharkey said the local authority would work to try and identify any identification found in waste dumped along the road.
