Ardee’s glittering awards

THE annual BAFTA (Baile Atha Fherdia Traders Associatio­n) awards 2017 took place at the Nuremore in Carrick and again the night was a celebratio­n of everything good about the town.

As ever, the various awards were keenly contested - and the winners were:

“Champagne Award” for most sparkling staff went to O’Brien’s Spar with the Award presented by Gary Dunne

Also in contention were Callaghans Butchers, Credit Union & Moorehall Lodge

“Facebook Fanatic” award Presented by John Little went to Ardee Pet Supplies with other contenders, Ardee Pharmacy & Giftware, Finlay’s sweetshop & Hamills Bar.

“Dapper Dude” Businessma­n of the year award presented by Trudy McGuinness went to Brian Sharkey (Paul Sharkey & Sons), seeing off David Dowling(Bank of Ireland), Paul Eaton (Richard McDonnell Solrs.) Thomas Lynch Jnr. (Firrin Foods).

“Classy Lassy’ - Businesswo­man of the Year - with award presented by Mickey Giggins went to Deirdre Dickson (Proactive Solutions) . Ann O’Flynn (Colman & Ann O’Flynns Pharmacy), Grainne McArdle (Bambino’s) and Sara McDonnell (Richard McDonnell Solrs.) were also nominated,

“Bruce Springstee­n Award” Best Boss, award presented by Noreen Matthews, went the way of Emma McKenna (Emma’s Touch) from Frank Lennon (Ardee Coach Trim Ltd,) Bryan Lynch (Bryan Lynch Finest Salads), John Caffrey (Caffrey’s Home Bakery) and David Brennan (Ardee Sports Company Ltd,).
