Huge crowd enjoy Rape Crisis Centre table quiz

FUNDRAISER QUIZ IN LISDOO ENJOYED BY ALL

-

ONE event that had an absolutely huge crowd in attendance on Friday night was the Rape Crisis North East CLG table quiz which took place in the Lisdoo.

I managed to get there just in time for the half time break where the food was served and entertainment Step X Step was taking place and it was neck and neck with quite a number of the teams participating.

I first headed over for a quick word with Denise and William Lauaki from Haggardstown who were with Ciara Coyle from Belfry Drive and Ciara Kavanagh from Marlmount who said the first half had gone well for them and they were sure they were going to do even better in the second half.

Not too far away I then got talking to Elaine and Patrick Hearty from Park Drive with Ciaran and Suzanne McKay from Kilcurry who told me they were ‘ there or there abouts’ and were extremely optimistic of finishing in the prizes.

Making my way over to another table I met up with Stacey Murphy from Lis Na Dara who was with Lorraine Ryder from Kilkerley, Andrew and Teresa Wehrly from Bay Estate, Kathleen Watkins from Patrick Street and Margaret Brady from The Laurels who said they were called The Lucky Losers, but were definitely going to win!

At an adjacent table I then got talking to Rita Keating from Farndreg with daughter Naomi McGuinness who was up from Wexford with Adam Kearns and were there to take part in the night but more importantly to see Abbie who was dancing and singing with Step X Step earlier on in the interval.

There was no way I was going to miss having a word with Paddy, Ann and Pairic Monaghan from Woodbury Gardens who were doing battle along with Niall Watkins from Lis Na Dara. They told me they were in the lead at the half way stage and intended to stay there to the end of the quiz.

Making my way over to another group I met up with Claire and Jay Brady, Nadine Todd and James Morrissey all from Waterville Crescent who told me they were quietly confident and were going to bring out the big guns for the second half.

After this I had the pleasure of meeting up with my old friend Frances Flynn from Wolfe Tone Terrace who was with her mum Frances Flynn from Legion Avenue and Adele Sobrua from Ashbrook who told me they were doing really well in the quiz and expected to finish ‘ top of the class’.

Not too long later I got a word with a group who included Lynda and Anne Mathews and Nicola Crawley all from Dunleer with Patricia McConville from Forkhill who told me it was a brilliant night and for such a good cause too.

Beside them I got talking to Emma Kellegher from Bay Estate, Realtein McCann from Dromiskin, Lisa Young from Duffy’s Cross, Sarah Gradaigh and Suzanne O’Hare both from Blackrock who said they had done well in the first half but were ‘on their way to stardom’.

Easily one of the liveliest tables there included Karen Owes from Hill View, Julie McGrane from Oaklawns, Frances McCullum from Stapleton Place, Joan McGrane from Goslings Terrace, Marie McMahon from Bay Estate, Bronagh Larkin from Mountain View, Jacqueline Hughes from St. Clements Park, Colette O’Hagan from Bay Estate who were having a mad one together and wanted to congratulate Carmel on a job well done!

Finally, as the quizmaster got ready to unleash more brain teasers, I met up with Karina and Lada Podkladneva and Eugene Podkladnev all from Newry Road with Grace McArdle from Blackrock who told me they were ‘in it to win it’ and were having a lovely time for a very good cause.
