Robbers knocked man to ground

A 31-year-old man was knocked to the ground and kicked by two men who stole his wallet before running away last Sunday. Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the incident which happened as the man was walking between the Ecco Road and O’Hanlon Park at 6.45pm on Sunday February 4th. The injured party, who was grabbed from behind by the two men, sought medical treatment after the attack. Anyone who may have seen the two assailants, described as being between 35 and 40 years, running away from the area, is asked to contact Dundalk Garda Station at 042 9335577 or the confidenti­al phoneline at 1800 666 111,

A 22-year-old man was arrested after threatenin­g staff and demanding money at the XL Shop, Jocelyn Street on Thursday, February 1st at 6.15pm. He wwas shouting at the staff and demanding money when he was apprehende­d by gardai who were in the area.

Gardai are examining CCTV footage as part of their investigat­ion into a burglary at Jackie Murphy’s Restaurant, Dublin Road, on Sunday February 4th between 5am and 5.20am, during which cash and two tills were taken. Two males can be seen on the premises in the CCTV footage which is being examined. Entry was gained to the premises after a window was smashed.

Two males are also being sought in relation to a breakin at the Aura Leisure Centre, St Alphonus Road at 2.55am the same date. A window was broken and a charity box stolen.
