Surprise party to mark Kevin’s 30th birthday
ON Saturday night I headed for Brubakers where a surprise 30th birthday party was being held for Kevin Mulgrew from Greenacres and there to make sure he had an epic night were his fiancée Kelly Gorham, parents Kevin and Rosie, sister Therese and brother Dominic and a huge collection of family and friends.
I was only in the door when I met up Therese who was with her boyfriend Stephen McDonnell from O’Hanlon Park, who told me that Kevin, who works for Dunnes Stores in Muirhevnamor and plays football with Muirhevnamor had been tricked into going for a meal with Kelly to the Market Bar and were coming up to Bru’s for a few quiet ones afterwards, but had no idea everyone was waiting for him!
I then decided to have a look round to see who was up for the celebrations and met up with brother-in-law to be Stephen Gorham from Muirhevnamor and Wayne Rogers from Blackrock who were going to have a mad one with Kevin when he got there.
Heading for another table I met up with the birthday boy’s parents Kevin and Rosaleen who were with his uncle and aunts Kieran and Theresa Mulgrew from Belfast, Maura Mulgrew from Finnabar Crescent and cousin Ciara Mulgrew from Belfast who couldn’t wait to see his face and wanted to wish him a very happy 30th.
Meanwhile over at another table I met Kevin’s brother Dominic who was enjoying the company of cousin Aine Mulgrew from Finnabar Crescent who were later joined by Eilidh and Luighseach Mulgrew who were down from Belfast specially for the party. Not too long later I got talking to a mate who has been a friend of Kevin’s since primary school and a footballing buddy too Kevin McArdle from Hoeys Lane who was with wife Anna. Kevin said as regards the football “Mull did the tackling and I scored the goals!”.
I then headed for a table where I met up with Kelly’s family including Marian and Arthur Gorham from Muirhevnamor, Mena Lynch from Greenacres, Kelly’s sister and chief bridesmaid in June, Nicola Gorham from Muirhevnamor, newlyweds Sandra and Johnny Lynch from Greenacres, Stephen McKevitt from Muirhevnamor and Kelly’s brother Niall Gorham from Muirhevnamor who all wanted to wish Kevin all the best on his big night.
After this I headed over for a word with Roise McCloskey from Cluan Enda who was awaiting the arrival of her husband Brian who was part of the trickery to bring Kevin to Brubakers.
Finally, before I departed I met up with Kevin’s two favourite cousins in Megan and Jade Hale from Belfast who were with aunt Jacqueline and his godmother Joanne Monaghan all from Belfast who told me they were there to party and were gonna make sure Kevin did too!
