ADVANCE Therapy System Ltd (ATS) is a local business providing Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy Services.

ATS has just celebrated 10 years of business and has launched its new website www.advancetherapysystems.ie

In late 2007 ATS opened its doors in Dundalk in a specially designed clinic at Brewery Business Park, providing an Occupational Therapy service.

Over the years the service expanded to include Speech and Language Therapy. A second clinic was opened in Santry - as many families were travelling significant distances on a weekly basis to avail of therapy in the Dundalk clinic. Our therapists are all registered with CORU. All Occupational Therapists working at ATS receive specialised post-graduate training in Sensory Integration through the University of Southern California.

The clinic in Dundalk assesses and treats children of all ages and all diagnoses. Many children have no diagnosis but present with difficulties at school or at home. They may appear delayed when compared with children of similar age; they may have delayed motor skills, or speech and language delay. Some may have difficulty playing or socialising with other children, or present with anxiety or behavioural difficulties. Others may have a combination of difficulties. We work with parents and children to help them reach their maximum potential. Working closely with parents we equip them with various strategies to help their child. Over the years we have formed many close links with schools, other health professionals and State Agencies. With parental consent we are happy to liaise with these groups as they work with their child.

The ATS clinic in Dundalk provides a multi disciplinary diagnostic service for Autism in conjunction with a Clinical Psychologist. Therapists also provide training and information to parents and teachers, and advise on what are typical delays, and when a child needs therapy. Training may take place in the clinic or in the school. We work in conjunction with parental support groups, and are happy to cooperate with them at information evenings and events. Training is also provided for other Health Professionals.

Our Occupational Therapists are involved in providing Assessment and Treatment for adults including seating and housing assessments. We also provide treatment for adults with intellectual disabilities.

Throughout the years ATS has developed a pro bono service where we have provided many children with free Occupational Therapy or Speech and Language Therapy services- funded by the clinic. Some families we see may attend for an assessment and are unable to access funding for follow up therapy, so when in a position to do so, we offer them pro bono services.

Apart from our web site, other new developments include:

An ATS Occupational Therapist working with a Dietician and children’s cookery school is offering workshops for parents of children with Autism The first workshop- ‘Eating and Autism, providing professional support” -is due to take place on April 12th. Further details will be posted on our website in the coming weeks.

Another development involves providing Occupational Therapy support services within specialised ASD units or classrooms. Any schools that are interested can contact us at the Dundalk clinic.

We also have commenced providing housing assessments for County Councils for people applying for Disabled persons grant schemes or elderly people adapting their homes.
