Damian Duff first Dundalk man to be elected President of Master Painters and Decorators
THE Master Painters and Decorators of Ireland (MPDI) an affiliated association of the Construction Industry Federation (CIF) has elected Damian Duff of Seamus Duff & Sons (Ireland) Ltd, President.
Mr Duff takes over the role of MPDI President from Mark Dilloughery, Cooney Contracting & Decorating.
‘I am very proud to have been appointed President,’ said Damian Duff on his appointment, ‘especially as I am the first President from Dundalk and County Louth, and that our company is currently the only MPDI member from County Louth.’
Seamus Duff & Sons started business in 1975 and Damian started as an apprentice in 1991, taking over from his father Seamus as Managing Director in 2011.
Damian Duff added: ‘As President, I will be focusing on apprenticeships within the Painting and Decorating sector and the need to encourage more young people to enter the trade. I will also be encouraging entrants to train under the Solas Apprenticeship Scheme and where they will receive a formal City & Guilds qualification upon completion of their apprenticeship.
I will also be highlighting the importance of contracting CIRI-registered painters and decorators as CIRI moves onto a statutory footing with Government.
I would like to congratulate our outgoing President Mark Dilloughery on the wonderful job he did in the past two years of his presidency and wish him all the best in the future.’
The MPDI Convention 2018 will be held in the Ballymascanlon House Hotel, Dundalk on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th October 2018.
