PAUL CELEBRATES HIS 21ST

-

ON AN EXTREMELY wet and windy Saturday night we headed for the function room of the Imperial Hotel, where a 21st birthday party was being held for DkIT student Paul Matthews from Bay Estate and there to make sure he had a marvellous night were parents Helen and Sean and sister Claire and a huge collection of relations and friends.

I was only in the door when I met up with Paul’s relations Cliodhna and Tomas Kernohan from Belfast, who were looking forward to a great night with the birthday boy and all his family.

Next I got talking to Paul’s niece Katelynn McKenna from Tenure, who told me the McKenna’s were there in force and were going to party the night away with the birthday boy.

Heading for an adjacent table I then got talking to Dermot Boylan, Niamh and Josephine Ruddy all from Castleblaney, who told me Niamh is a niece and Josephine is a silent aunt and they wanted to wish Paul all the best on his big night, well Dermot and Niamh did, Josephine seemed lost for words?

Making my way to another table I then got talking to Charlie Molloy, who was there with wife Margaret, son Stephen, daughter Joanne and granddaughter Kyla, who were all having a laugh with Paul’s mum Helen and assured me it was going to be a lovely night.

Not too long later I then got a word with Helen’s uncle Michael McGarrigle from Belfast, who was enjoying the festivities with Geraldine Hamill and Mary Mulhern, both from Belfast, who were all up for making the best of the night.

After this I got talking to Paddy Gallagher from Drogheda, who told me he was there with Katelyn McKenna (who I’d met earlier) and she was with her parents Yvonne and Barry Dunne from Tenure, so this meant he was definitely on his best behaviour on the night!

Making my way through the crowds I then caught up with sisters-in-law Shirley Smith from Kilmainhamwood and Annmarie Matthews from Drumcondrath, who were having a right old time of it and said I should probably mention their respective husbands Philip and Sean Matthews, who were there somewhere.

Finally, before we departed I met up with Paul’s sister Claire from Bay Estate, who was up for making the best of the night with Kerry Anne Carr from Fatima and Keith Gamer from College Manor, who were definitely there to party, because they told me so!
