Enterprise lunch invitation from John Teeling

Local Enterprise Week in Louth, taking place this week, will see a whole range of free educationa­l events for business taking place right across the county.

Louth’s Head of Enterprise Thomas McEvoy, this week extended an invitation to business owners to join him at an inspiring enterprise lunch. This free event takes place on Friday 9th March from 12.30-3.00pm at the Táin Theatre in Dundalk.

‘After a busy Enterprise Week, we are rounding it off on Friday with an inspiring enterprise lunch featuring entreprene­ur John Teeling as our very special guest,’ said Thomas.

A serial entreprene­ur, John has the distinctio­n of setting up more listed companies on the London Stock Exchange than any other Irishman.

John has particular expertise and involvemen­t in the Irish whiskey sector having sold Cooley Distillery to a US rival and has recently led the developmen­t of The Great Northern Distillery in Dundalk.

The event will also serve as a showcase for three of Louth’s emerging business leaders.

Thomas continues: ‘ This year is the 20th anniversar­y of the National Enterprise Awards and at our Enterprise Lunch we will announce the three Louth category winners.

‘We will also reveal which company will represent Louth in the National Finals in the Mansion House Dublin in May.’

This event is part of Local Enterprise Week Louth hosted by Louth County Council and Local Enterprise Office Louth.

The body of a man was removed from the water at Gyles Quay yesterday (Monday).

The alarm was raised by a member of the public around 11am on Monday morning and gardai were notified and attended at the scene in north Louth.

The Greenore Coast Guard also responded and were tasked with recovering the man’s body from the water and succeeded in doing so despite blustery weather conditions.

Gardai are investigat­ing the incident and the man’s identity has yet to be released.

It is understood he was from the Dundalk area.
