Mr CX+ Sports, David celebrates 50th

-

ON Saturday night I returned to the Lilywhite Lounge in Oriel Park for the second attempt to join David Minto from Medebawn’s 50th birthday party. I had called up the previous week, but the event had been called off, but I certainly wasn’t going to miss this major celebration on any account.

I was only in the door and met up with David who is best known for his work with CX Sports, Dundalk FC and is this year’s chairperson of the St. Patricks Day Parade (he told me the parade gets under way on Saturday at 1.00pm and is the biggest and best yet!).

David was there with his wife Deirdre, daughter Kayla, mum Briege, sisters, Valerie, Sharon and Catherine, brothers Aidan and Niall and a huge collection of friends and relations.

I headed off to see who was up for making the best of his big night and caught up with Alison and Stephen White, Vinny and Audrey Duffy all from Manydown Close who are big mates with David and Deirdre and told me it was definitely going to be a mad night.

Making my way over to another table I then got talking to Andy and Yvonne Fleming from Carrick Road who were having a laugh with Dundalk hero Brian Gartland from Pearse Park who was let loose by himself for the weekend and was definitely making the best of the night.

They were joined by Eoin and Aisling McEvoy, Maeve and Fintan Reilly all from Blackrock who wanted to wish David a very happy 50th.

Making my way over at the raised tables I then got a word with cousins Stephen Dixon (the favourite one) and Martin Dixon from Redbarns Road, Lisa Dixon from Farndreg and Susan Dixon from Muirhevnamor who were having a ball along with Amy and Hayley Dixon from St. Nicholas Avenue, Scott Dorian from Avenue Road and Alisha Dixon from the Quay who told me the party was just great.

They were there with the coolest lads in the place, Jason and Liam Dorian from Avenue Road, Paul and Shane Minto from Muirhevnamor who told me the party celebrations hadn’t really started yet.

Making my way over to another table I then got talking to parents-in-law Phyllis and Andy Clifford from Woodbury gardens who were with grandkids Dearbhla and Ciara Brodigan from Bay Estate, Oisin O’Murchú from Newry, Cian Brodigan from Bay Estate and his main squeeze Sarah Clarke from Wolfetone Terrace who were with parents Philip and Caroline Brodigan from Bay Estate who were having a great night and hoped that David was doing the same.

Next I caught up with some of David’s mates from his volunteer work with Dundalk FC and they included David Caldwell from Cedarwood Park, Martin Connolly from Mill Road, Garreth Doyle from Lower Point Road and Frank ‘ TC’ Birmingham from Cluan Enda who wanted to wish him all the best on his big night.

One man that seems to get out more than me these days is David O’Hare from Kingswood who was there with parents Tony and Caroline, sisters Rebekah and Victoria as well as Jane and Ian Callan from Manydown Close who were all in form for a major night of fun.

Heading for another table I met up with Christina McCabe from Beechmount Drive who was with her fiancée Danny English also from Beechmount Drive, mum Eileen McCabe from Marian Park who all hoped that David had the best night ever.

Also in their company were uncle Noel and Geraldine Minto from Hazelwood Avenue, aunty Nuala Woods from Muirhevnamor who was with kids Pamela McKenna from Point Road and Alison Gray from Cypress Gardens, Nuala’s husband Ray and Stephen Gray who is with Alison who wanted to wish the birthday boy a very happy 50th.

Finally, before I departed I met up with David’s wife Deirdre who was having a laugh with his sister Catherine Dorian from Woodbury Gardens who was with Damian, Scott, Jason and Keith who was with Niamh Dunne from Lisdoo and they told me it was a brilliant night for a great man!
