Paulloved WestHam

- Micheál (Paul) Harmon 1953-2018

PAUL Harmon, Dublin Street, Dundalk, who died suddenly at home on 8 January, 2018, left his family shocked at his sudden passing.

Paul grew up in Dublin Street, eldest son of Michael and Irene Harmon, both of whom predeceased him.

He attended the Friary school and later the De La Salle school.

He worked in Macardle Moore Brewery and subsequently in the Dundalk Democrat.

Paul enjoyed football, especially West Ham United. He also loved crosswords, puzzles, quizzes and gardening.

Another big interest was music, and he loved going to concerts, which he did years ago.

Paul loved his niece Maeve and nephew Ciarán. Often, when going to Dublin on a day out, they would call into him to show what style they had bought.

Paul was predeceased by his mother Irene (nee Weldon) in 1974, and by his father Michael in 1981.

After reposing at McGeough’s funeral home, his remains were removed to St. Patrick’s Cathedral, where the funeral Mass was celebrated by Fr. Mark O’Hagan, who spoke about Paul, his garden and music.

Offertory gifts were taken up by his brothers Patrick and John Harmon; while prayers of the faithful were led by sister-in-law Ann and cousin Karen.

Gifts symbolising Paul’s life were brought to the altar by his sister Anne, Patrick and John. These included his West Ham hat, a CD and a puzzle book.

Music was provided by Brendan and Sarah McCourt.

Burial took place afterwards in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Dowdallshill, where Paul was laid to rest with his parents.

He is survived by his sister Anne; brothers Patrick and John; sisterin-law Ann; niece Maeve, nephew Ciarán, cousins and friends.
