Dundalk 2 Grange W’bine0

DUNDALK Girls returned to competitive football after a five week absence due to flooded pitches and the Beast from the East when they Grange Woodbine in Oriel Park the league.

The game started with both teams battling in midfield to take control of the game and Grange put Dundalk under pressure for the first couple of minutes.

But Dundalk started to take control, attacking down the wings and created a number chances with Ayo scrapping for every ball.

A number of chances narrowly missed the target before Rebecca Lambe-Fagan advanced from defense and delivered a great pass out to Grace Ojo on the wing. Still with plenty to do, Ojo picked the ball up and sured towards goal before slotting the ball into the far corner to earn a well deserved lead for Dundalk.

The scond half started much the same way and within six minutes Dundalk extended their lead to 2-0.

Aoife Stewart made progress down the wing and passed the ball into Ayo who struck the ball to the net.

Rachel pulled off two great saves in the 57th and 65th minute and in the 68th minute, but at the other end Katie Moran struck the ball from outside the box and hit the crossbar.

Grange had a goal disallowed in the 80th minute from a corner kick and Dundalk held out for a fully deserved and hard found win after the five week absence from football.

DUNDALK: Rachel Mullen, Caoimhe Conroy, Bronagh Mulholland, Rebecca Lambe-Fagan, Kerry-Ann Darcy, Aoife Byrne, Andrea Stewart, Beth Hughes, Seona Halligan, Kerri Clinton, Ayo Adesanyo, Grace Ojo and Katie Moran.
