Gardai investigat­e assaults in town

GARDAI are investigat­ing a number of assaults in Dundalk over the past week. A 36 year old man sustained a number of stab wounds in an incident in Fatima Drive in the early hours of Sunday night. Gardai responding to a call from ambulance patrol at 2.45am discovered that the man had a number of stab wounds to his face and legs. He was taken by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital where his condition is described as ‘not life threatenin­g.’ Gardai are anxious that anyone who has any informatio­n get in contact with them at 9335577.

A 40 year old man was assaulted by two males as he walked home on Friday night in the Dublin Road area. He sustained a fractured cheekbone and black eye in the assault which happened at 1.30am.

Gardai are also appealing for informatio­n regarding an incident in Park Street at 2.50am on Monday, March 26th. An altercatio­n broke out involving a number of women and a man who intervened was punched and knocked unconsciou­s. He was subsequent­ly removed from the scene by ambulance and taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.

A 36 year old man was arrested following an incident in Boyd’s car park, Long Walk at 12noon on Thursday March 29th in which a man was head butted and kicked.

A garda patrol car was rammed at Carrickaro­n on Friday night while gardai were investigat­ing joy-riding close to the Carrickdal­e Hotel at 11.30pm. A blue Izuzu Trooper jeep, registrati­on KLZ 6353. rammed the patrol car before escaping across the border.

Two men were arrested as they left the scene of a burglary at Castle Park, Castletown Road on Sunday, April 1st. Gardai responded to a 999 call at 12.30am and apprehende­d the suspects who were in possession a power tools and a television. Damage had been caused to a rear window of the property.
