Local artists go Incognito

JACK & JILL FOUNDATION EXHIBITION

- By MARGARET RODDY

A number of local artists have donated original pieces of art for the INCOGNITO exhibition taking place in Dublin this weekend in aid of The Jack & Jill Foundation.

Their postcard size artworks will be sharing the walls of the Solomon Gallery along with those by world famous artists such as Tracy Emin, Nick Miller and Martin Gale.

All pieces are exhibited anonymously and sold for €50 each but the catch is the purchasers don’t know the artists’ names until they buy.

This is the second year that the exhibition has taken place and it has really captured the public imagination as there were long queues of people waiting to visit it and purchase a piece last year. Last year’s Incognito event raised €81,000 for the Jack & Jill Children’s Foundation.

The local artists who have donated works include Leanne Mullen, who reached the semi-finals of the Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year recently and was Highly Commended in the 2016 Hennessy Portrait Prize, Adrian & Shane, Adrienne Finnerty, Alva Gallagher, Michael Gavan Duffy, Maura Mucckian, Patricia O’Kane, Colin O’Neill, Kitty O’Neill, Shauna Swords, Leesha Cunningham, Brian Hegarty, Jackie Hudson-Lalor, Catriona Oliver, Olga Duka, Violet Shirran, Raymond Hunt, Rose Landys, Eugenia Whelan and Joanne Better Conlon.

This year, the exhibition featuring over 1,600 works by over 1,000 artists, can be viewed in the gallery tomorrow ( Wednesday) and Thursday, All the artworks can also be viewed online at www.incognito.ie
