PARENTS’ QUIZ DRAWS CROWD
ON FRIDAY night I headed for the Lisdoo where a very special fundraising table quiz was taking place for Special Needs Active Parents and as was expected, the place was packed for this hugely popular night.
I was only in the door when I met up with Paul and Fiona McKenna from St. Clements Park, who were ready to do battle along with Fionnuala and Shane D’Arcy from Readypenny and were very confident of a good result.
Next I headed over for a chat with James, Jennifer and Kieran Rogers from Medebawn, who were awaiting the arrival of Clodagh Malone from Jenkinstown and even if Kieran had hung up his dancing shoes after a very creditable performance at the De La Salle Strictly, he told me they were definitely there to win some of the prizes.
Seated close by were Declan Watters and Maria O’Rourke both from Dromiskin, who were with Martina and Barry O’Rourke from Darver, who had one big collective thinking cap on and were sure that was going to be enough to make it count.
Heading for yet another table I then met up with Alan Connolly from Garrybawn, Laura Dearey from Omeath, Briege Butler from Quay Street and Suzanne McCrory from Omeath, who were definitely the favoured team and were extremely confident of a major win.
Not too far away I got a quick word with Breffni Lynch from Beacon Court, who told me he was with Jennifer Gray from Muirhevnamor and Caroline Farrell from Avenue Road. He told me they were going to come in third and get second prize!
Making my way over to another table I got talking to brother and sister Stephen and Rachael Yore from Blakley Close, who were with their mum Maeve and were awaiting the arrival of their fourth team mate Brid Coyle from Belfry Crescent. I was told they fully intended to live up to their team name of ‘ The Champions’.
Not too far away I then got talking to Frank Reid from St Alphonsus Road with Melissa Gyles from Bay Estate, Patrick Hodgins from Fatima, Steven McLaughlin and Maggie Reagan from
Holly Park, who were expecting to do well after all the fish consumed earlier.
Heading for another table I then got a word with Aodh MacComhghaill and Mary Coyle both from Redbarns Road, who were going to do well and Aodh said he had the history sewn up.
Next I caught up with three SNAP volunteers Sinead Woods from Blackrock, Rodney and Finola Down from Knockbridge, who were going around making sure the night was a huge success.
I then headed for the shark table where I caught up with Siobhan and David Duffy, who were with Clare and Tom Crichton all from Medebawn, who are the current Scouts Quiz champions and were looking to double up on their win.
Heading for another table I then got talking to Paul White from Blackrock, who was with Barbara Johnston from Cooley Park, Dean and Mary Connolly from Muirhevnamor, who were looking forward to the quiz but were only really in it for the raffle prizes!
After this I caught up with Michelle and John Reel from Kilcurry, who were with Machelle’s sister Majella Martin from Lisdoo and Dee Doyle from Dublin, who were looking for inspiration from Colin Morrison from Wicklow, Lourda Martin from Dowdallshill, Rosemary Martin from Kilcurry and the quiz expert G. Martin from Lisdoo, who always has the right answer
