Hugh a cut above with 50th celebrations

-

EASILY the biggest party celebrations of the weekend had to be the 50th birthday of well known hairdressing entrepreneur Hugh Cassidy from Knockbridge and there to make sure he had a fantastic night was his wife Tina, kids Charlene, Naomi, Jarlath, Oisin and Odhrán, brothers James, Peter and Ken, sisters Sonya and Jackie and a huge collection of family and friends.

I was only in the door when I met the man who owns Eclipse Salon, birthday boy Hugh who was having a laugh with Patricia and Paul Teague from Blackrock who told me they used to be mates of Hugh’s and actually met him in a Chinese restaurant!

He then brought me over for a chat with his best man from all those years ago Paddy O’Neill from Ardee who was there on the night with Catriona Flanagan from Ardee and they were having a laugh with Colm ‘Budgie’ Mulligan from Cluan Enda who wanted to wish Hugh all the best on his big night.

Heading for another table I then got talking to Sonya O’Callaghan from Woodbury Gardens who was with her son Michael and they were having a mad one along with Olivia and Anthony Todd from Dromiskin and Paul Kieran from Manydown Close who assured me it was going to be a nice refined night, eh with Stormers just waiting to kick off, I thought, quiet it certainly wasn’t going to be.

After this I caught up with Ska and Morgan from Point Road who told me they were are ‘cruising buddies’ no, I didn’t bother to ask Ska to elaborate on that one!

Not too far away I then got talking to John, Sandra and Niamh Gorham from Pearse Park who told me that John is Hugh’s bestie and they are all holiday buddies too, so they certainly weren’t going to miss the night.

I then headed over to The Meadows possee where I caught up with Jim and Bernadette Conroy and Tony and Frances Casey who were up for making it a real night to remember and Jim told me that Hugh and Tina used to babysit for them!

Heading for the raised tables I then got taking to Sinead and Mickey Morgan from Dromintee who were with Paul and Sharon O’Shaughnessy from Lennonstown Manor who told me Sharon works in Eclipse and they all wanted to wish Hugh a very happy birthday.

After this I had the pleasure of meeting Karen Guildea from Drogheda and Irene Radclife from Dublin who were looking extremely well and were only just starting to get the hang of a Dundalk party!

Not too long later I then met up with Hugh’s brother-in-law Frankie Hutchinson from Ashling Park who was with his sons Francis and Stephen and told me it was going to be a fantastic night and wanted to wish Hugh all the best.

Making my way through the crowds I got a swift word with aunty Marie Bailey from Wolfetone Terrace along with cousin Aine and niece Katie McEneaney from Ashbrook who were having a lovely night.

I met another brother-inlaw Johnny Hutchinson from Muirhevnamor who was with Anna Connolly from Rock Road who were up for making it a mad night.

And yes, another brother-inlaw was there, Johnny Duffy from Castletowncross with his wife Eileen, daughter Deborah, sister-in-law Teresa O’Neill from O’Hanlon Park with Owen, daughter Karen, son Jordan and girlfriend Chloe Robinson from Ashling Park who certainly weren’t there for a quiet night that was for sure.

They were sitting beside the family I’m currently stalking at the moment. Yes, Tony, Caroline and David O’Hare from Kingswood who were with Tony’s brother Paul O’Hare and wife Andrea from St. Nicholas Av- enue who admitted they were family friends of Hugh’s but secretly admitted it was the chicken curry they were after, oh yes, Hugh cuts Caroline’s hair too!

Also in their company were Maura and Christy Woods from O’Hanlon Park who wanted a big shout out to their old ex neighbours and hope they both have a lovely night.

Finally, before I departed I got a word with Agnes McCusker and Paul O’Kane who wanted to wish Hugh a very happy 50th and to tell him they were having a lovely night too.
