Barr proves too high for Tullyallen men
NAOMH FIONNBARRA recorded a good win at Ballygassan on Sunday as they came from behind at the break to defeat Glen Emmets.
Glen Emmets with the wind at their backs made the better start in the first half scoring two before the Barrs responded with a William Woods free. Another Emmets point was cancelled out by a William Woods score from play but the visitors received a boost when a long ball was deflected to the net by Conor Grimes off Darren McConnon.
The Tullyallen men tacked on two more points before half time but once again Woods knocked over a point from a placed ball to reduce the deficit to 1-5 to 0-3 at the break.
The Finbarrs upped the tempo at the start of the second half and created a goal chance that was palmed to the net by Jack Butterly. Further points followed from Woods (2) and a point from play by Eoghan Osborne giving the Togher men the lead for the first time in the game.
The Finbarrs then had another purple patch as a long ball into the Tullyallen square was well fielded by Woods who in one movement turned and buried the ball into the bottom corner of the net. Woods was in the thick of it again shortly afterwards as he fielded another long ball but was fouled in the square. Bernard Osborne tucked away the penalty and a Hugh Osborne point gave the Barrs a seven point lead.

However, it was too late to save the game and the Barrs held out for an important win.
