ST FECHIN’S STABANNON 2-7 0-5

ST Fechins Ladies travelled to Stabannon to take on the county champions in the Division 1 League on Sunday.

St Fechins got off to a flyer with great vision shown by Rachel Kinch who placed the ball into Louise McCullough who scored an excellent point from play.

This trend continued with further points from McCoullough and Roisin Kavanagh. However Stabannon replied with a point from play and could have had a goal but for a fine save by Emma Dunne.

St Fechins did not allow Stabannon any space in the back line and defended brilliantly throughout the first half. Stabannon did hit back with a couple of well-taken frees, but goals from Sharon McDermott and Louise McCoullough put Fechin’s in control at the break.

In the second half St Fechins continued to keep up a high level of pressure on Stabannon. For a second time Rachel Kinch placed the ball in an excellent position for Louise McCoullough which led to a wonderful point by McCoullough.

This was followed by a further three points from play by Shayleen McDonough, receiving the ball in prime scoring positions and firing clinically over the bar.

Stabannon scored two further points from frees in the second half but this was not enough to close the gap.

Overall it was a fantastic performance from St Fechins who over two halves dominated the game, showed fantastic scoring accuracy and a highly disciplined defence.
